LET’S GET YOU TO TRAFFIC AND WEATHER ON THE 2s. WE HAD A CHANCE TO TALK TO YOUR DAD IN FLORIDA. THEY ACTUALLY DID OKAY. THEY LOST POWER ABOUT TWO HOURS AFTER WE SPOKE WITH THEM YESTERDAY MORNING. I’M NOT SURE IF THEY’VE GOT IT BACK, OTHER THAN THAT SOME PALM TREES DOWN, NO DAMAGE TO THE PROPERTY OR THE HOUSE. FAMILY IN TAMPA. STILL IN THE SHELTER WAITING TO HEAR WHEN THEY ASSESS DAMAGE. MY UNCLE’S IN ORLANDO. HE DID FINE. THEY JUST HAD A LITTLE WIND. MY COUSIN’S IN WEST PALM DID LOSE POWER. THEY’RE DOING OKAY. THE STRONGEST WINDS RIGHT NOW ARE AROUND ORLANDO. THERE’S A RISK OF TORNADOES, TOO. USUALLY THESE ARE LIKE EF1s BUT THEY CAN SPAWN THESE TORNADOES. SO MANY RELIEVED IT MADE LANDFALL AND THAT IS WHAT SAPPED THE ENERGY OUT OF THIS. THAT IS GREAT NEWS NOT ONLY FOR STORM SURGE BUT OVERALL WINDS. WE’VE GOT TO BE STRONG, PARTICULARLY TODAY. OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW WE HAVE GOT CLEAR SKIES. IT IS REFRESHING. IT IS COMFORTABLE. WE’RE ACTUALLY GOING TO SEE NUMBERS KIND OF CREEP UP OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS BUT YOUR DAY TODAY PRETTY CLOSE TO SEASONAL, MAYBE A DEGREE OR 2 WARMER, AND THAT’S GOING TO BE THE TREND. IN FACT MUCH OF THE WEEK WE’RE A FEW DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. YESTERDAY WAS BEAUTIFUL IN OUR AREA, GREAT FOR THE RACE FOR THE CURE, SO MUCH FUN. SO MUCH PINK YESTERDAY IN THE PARK. 74 IN ISLIP, 73 IN BELMAR AND THE JERSEY SHORE FOR YOUR SUPER SUNDAY, 73 IN MONTAUK. 72 IN ANDOVER. WE’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT MONTAUK ALL MORNING AND THE MONTAUK EXPERIMENT. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE FUN WITH THE KIDS LOOK THAT UP. 75 WAS THE HIGH YESTERDAY IN JFK TETERBORO WAS AT 74. NUMBERS RIGHT NOW WITH CLEAR SKIES THE HEAT ESCAPES, SO YOU HAVE 44 IN MIDDLE TOWN, 43 IN SUSSEX AND MORRISTOWN, TOO WE’VE GOT 58 IN WOODMERE, 50 IN RED BANK, BUT YOU’LL SEE THOSE NUMBERS ACTUALLY RECOVER QUITE A BIT. IN FACT, THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY THERE’S A LITTLE BIT OF WARM AIR THROUGH THE LAKES. THAT WORKS ITS WAY OUR WAY, EVEN THOUGH IT’S 1 DEGREE COOLER RIGHT NOW THAN IT WAS THIS TIME YESTERDAY IN NEW YORK, WE’LL ADD TO THE HEAT THIS AFTERNOON AND THEN DURING THE COURSE OF THE NEXT FEW DAYS. GOING TO THE BEACH, A MODERATE RIP CURRENT RISK, AND YEAH, YOU ARE GOING TO SEE THAT PLAY OUT, AND JOSE LATER IN THE WEEK COULD ADD TO THE RIP CURRENT RISK. FUTURECAST IS VERY QUIET TODAY. YOU GET A SENSE OF THAT, NOTHING TO SHOW YOU, A FEW HIGH CLOUDS CREEPING IN. THAT’S REALLY MORE OF A FEATURE ON YOUR TUESDAY, AND THEN WE SEE THE ATMOSPHERE CHANGE A BIT. WE’LL LEAVE THE CHANCE OF A SHOWER IN THE FORECAST ON WEDNESDAY. THERE’S NOT A LOT OF AGREEMENT, AND YOU’LL NOTICE IT WOULD JUST BE SCATTERED SHOWERS ON WEDNESDAY, AND THEN WE SEE A BREAK THURSDAY BEFORE ANOTHER RAIN CHANCE ON FRIDAY. UV FORECAST STILL IN SEPTEMBER, HIGH, BURN TIME 25 MINUTES IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUT EITHER ATTENDING A SERVICE OR JUST OUT. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE SUNSCREEN ON, AND REAPPLY IT TOO. THOSE WATERS STILL WARM ENOUGH TO INVITE YOU IN. TUESDAY’S STILL NICE, INCREASING CLOUDS, WARMER.
