OFFICIALS SAY IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE CALLS, JUST HANG UP. AND TGIF. UH-HUH, WELCOME TO AUGUST. I KNOW. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? AUGUST 1ST ALREADY. YET YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES AND YOU GO OUTSIDE, AND NOW IT FEELS LIKE AUGUST. IT HASN’T BEEN FEELING LIKE, YOU KNOW, JULY, AUGUST, AROUND HERE LATELY. KIND OF HAZY OUT THERE AS WELL. THE HUMIDITY HAS TICKED UP. IT’S A NICE SUMMER AFTERNOON OUT THERE RIGHT NOW, AND AS WE HEAD TOWARD THE WEEKEND, WE’RE NOT GOING TO SEE AS MUCH SUNSHINE. BUT IT’S NOT A WASHOUT. THE STEADIEST RAIN IS SATURDAY, ESPECIALLY IN SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS. I THINK WE’RE LOOKING AT SCATTERED SHOWERS ON SUNDAY AND HE THIS MAY FAVOR ESPECIALLY EARLY IN THE DAY. SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS. TAKE A LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURES, UP TO 82 IN LAWRENCE, NEAR 80 IN WORCESTER, MID 70’S IN THE CAPE AND A NICE DAY FOR YOU. 73 IN BOSTON AND WE’VE HAD THE WIND KICK IN OFF THE OCEAN. THE SEA BREEZE DEVELOPED. YOU NOTICE OUTSIDE, HUMIDITY HAS COME UP. DEW POINTS ARE RUNNING WELL INTO THE 60’S AND BEEN IN THE 50’S FOR DAYS. I’M WATCHING THIS TROPICAL AIR OF DOWNPOURS, LOW PRESSURE HERE WORKING ALONG THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND GUESS WHERE THIS IS HEADED THIS WEEKEND. I THINK YOU’VE FIGURED IT OUT BY NOW. THAT’S WHAT WE’RE WATCHING FOR THE WEEKEND. IN THE MEANTIME, IT’S A NICE AFTERNOON NOW AND SEE A FAIR AMOUNT OF SUNSHINE THERE. WE’RE GOING TO BE WATCHING FOR THE THREAT OF THE HIT OR MISS THUNDER SHOWER AS TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO CLIMB. WE SHOULD MANAGE SOME LOW TO MID 80’S IN A FEW SPOTS HERE THROUGH THE MERRIMACK VALLEY AND WE’LL KEEP IT GENERALLY IN THE 70’S ON CAPE COD. HERE IS A TIME LINE FOR 3:00 THIS AFTERNOON. MOST OF THE SPOTS ARE VULNERABLE NORTH AND WEST OF TOWN AND NOTICE THE HIT OR MISS NATURE OF THE SHOWERS, SCATTERED SHOWERS POPPING YOU UP. A PASSING DOWNPOUR AND A RUMBLE OF THUNDER. I THINK THEY’RE GOING TO KEEP OUT OF EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS, BUT THAT WILL CHANGE. THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOUR, THERE WILL BE CLOUDS AND PATCHILY FOG AND WAIT FOR THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE TO MOVE IN. IT PASSES OVER SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS ON SATURDAY AND THEN PULLS OUT ON SUNDAY AND THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY IS STILL CLOSE BY. THERE’S A SECOND WAVE BEHIND IT AND SOMEWHAT OF A DISCREPANCY AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THIS WILL BRING IN ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS INTO SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS ON SUNDAY MORNING, BUT I’M CONFIDENT THAT WE’LL GET IN ON THE WET WEATHER ACROSS A GOOD CHUNK OF THE AREA. THROUGH THE LATE MORNING HOURS ON SATURDAY AND EARLY AFTERNOON. BY LATE AFTERNOON, MOST AREAS ARE DRYING OUT. WE KEEP THE CLOUDS AND SHOWERS GOING HERE IN SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS. IN TERMS OF THE RAIN, HEAVIEST AROUND AN INCH OR MORE IN SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND I THINK IT’S LESS THAN THAT, FURTHER NORTH AND WEST. AND THE STEADY RAIN FOR MASSACHUSETTS, IT’S COOLER BY SUNDAY. NOTICE A LOT OF CLOUDS IN THE MORNING AND WE’LL BURN SOME OF THOSE OFF AND THERE COULD BE A COUPLE OF THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING IN THE AFTERNOON. SOMEWHAT OF A QUESTION MARK AS WE GET IN ON ANOTHER STEADIER BATCH OF SHOWERS ON MONDAY MORNING. WE’LL CLEAR THINGS OUT AFTER MONDAY AND GET THE WEATHER ON TUESDAY.
