THAN THIS.>>WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE
HIGHEST RESIDENTIAL THING
BETWEEN HERE IN NEW YORK. AND IT IS ALSO THE MOST
EXPENSIVE BUILDING IN BOSTON. SHAYNA: 61 STORIES, 741 FEET, 1
DALTON, WHERE RESIDENTS ARE
LITERALLY ON TOP OF THE WORLD.>>ON A GOOD DAY YOU CAN SEE
CAPE COD. SHAYNA: RICHARD FRIEDMAN IS THE
CEO OF CARPENTER & CO., THE
DEVELOPMENT COMPANY BEHIND THESE
STUNNING VIEWS. NOT SURPRISINGLY WHEN CHANGING
BOSTON SKYLINE, HE CALLED ON
SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE IT BEFORE.>>HARRY CALLED ME THE JOHN
HANCOCK. HE IS, IN HIS EARLY 90’S HE
JOKES HE IS IN MIDCAREER. IT IS ABOUT OLD AND NEW BEING
MIXED. THAT IS THE BASIC DNA OF THE
PROJECT. SHAYNA: ALSO IN THE DNA,
FIVE-STAR AMENITIES THAT MAKE
EVERYDAY A STAYCATION.>>THE IDEA YOU CAN HAVE ROOM
SERVICE AT ALL HOURS IS REALLY
ATTRACTIVE AND FUN TO PEOPLE. SHAYNA: COMBINE THAT DIRECT
ACCESS TO THE FOUR SEASONS SPA,
POOL AND RESTAURANTS AND IT IS
NO WONDER WHY THE BUILDING’S
CREATOR IS ALSO ONE OF ITS FIRST
RESIDENTS.>>IT SHOWS YOU HAVE FAITH IN
WHAT YOU ARE DOING. VERY FEW DEVELOPERS HAVE THE
GUTS OR STUPIDITY, WHATEVER YOU
WANT TO CALL IT, TO LIVE IN
THEIR OWN BUILDINGS. BUT I LOVE THE BUILDING. SHAYNA: JUST DO NOT LOOK FOR HIM
UP HERE.>>SOME PEOPLE SAY WHY DIDN’T
YOU TAKE THE PENTHOUSE? FIRST OF ALL, I CANNOT AFFORD
IT. AND THE GROUP — VIEWS ARE GREAT
EVERYWHERE. SHAYNA: ONE PINHOLES SOLD BEFORE
IT WAS FINISHED FOR $40 MILLION. AS THE FLOORS DROP, SOLELY PRICE
TAGS. ABOUT $2 MILLION. STILL OUT OF YOUR BUDGET? NO WORRIES. REALTORS CAN HELP YOU GET HIGH
FOR LESS.>>I THINK EVERYBODY WANTS A
GOOD VIEW. YOU CAN DEFINITELY FIND A FEW

A LOT OF DECKS. A LOT OF VALUE WITHOUT HAVING TO
BREAK THE BANK. SHAYNA: PLACES LIKE THIS DUPLEX
ARE PROOF THAT LOOKING UP CAN BE
JUST AS SATISFYING AS LOOKING
DOWN.>>I LOVE TO BE HERE AT NIGHT. I CAN SEE THE SIGN ALBRIGHT AND
LIT. ALMOST FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE A
PIECE OF NEW YORK AND BACK BAY. SHAYNA: FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR
GREEN INSTEAD OF GLITTER, JACK
PROVIDES A DIFFERENT POINT OF
VIEW AT HIS SOUTHERN NEW
HAMPSHIRE TREEHOUSE.>>SOMETHING ABOUT JUST BEING
WAY UP OFF THE GROUND, AND IT IS
SMALL ENOUGH SO WHEN YOU LOOK
OUT THE WINDOW YOU FEEL LIKE YOU
ARE WAY UP IN THE AIR. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS
COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. A LOT OF PEOPLE COME HERE WHERE
ONE DOES NOT TELL THE OTHER
WHERE THEY ARE GOING. THEN THEY WALK THEM OUT HERE,
WHAT DO YOU THINK? SHAYNA: VALENTINE’S DAY IS
POPULAR HERE, AND WITH ITS
WREATH AND LIGHTS, CHRISTMAS IS
NEVER OUT OF SEASON. THE GIFTS ARE QUIET, AND A CLEAR
ROOF THAT BRINGS YOU QUIET TO
NATURE — CLOSER TO NATURE.>>A LOT OF PEOPLE GO, I HOPE IT
RAINS TONIGHT. THE BIG CONCERN IS WHETHER
PEOPLE CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT. IT IS VERY WEATHER-ORIENTED. I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYONE SAY
THEY HAD THE GREATEST NIGHT
SLEEP. SHAYNA: AND DREAMS OF SIMPLER
TIMES.>>EVERYONE WANTED TO HAVE A
TREEHOUSE. THAT IS WHY I BUILT IT. PEOPLE TURN INTO LITTLE KIDS
WHEN THEY COME HERE, HONESTLY. SHAYNA: AND WHAT KATE DOES NOT
LIKE A GOOD STORY? — KID DOES NOT LIKE A GOOD
STORY? HE HAS A NOTEBOOK FOR PEOPLE TO
SHARE THEIR STORIES.>>THEY HEARD A KNOCK ON THE
DOOR AND THERE WERE MEN IN BLACK
GUYS. THEY SAID THEY SAW A UFO IN THE
WOODS. SHAYNA: HE HAS NOT SEEN A UFO,
BUT THE ANSWER MIGHT BE AMONG
THE TREES. SLEEPING AT 30 FEET ABOVE THE
FOREST FLOOR IS SURE TO
INSPIRE SOME TALL TALES. ANTHONY: TURNS OUT THE PROCESS
OF BUILDING THAT TREEHOUSE IS
ABOUT AS LOW AS WATCHING THE
TREES ROW AROUND IT. SHAYNA: IT TOOK THREE YEARS TO
BUILD BECAUSE IT WAS MADE FROM
DONATED MATERIALS. SO HE WOULD RUN OUT, CREATE THE
TREEHOUSE, THE MATERIAL WILL BE
GONE, THEN MORE MATERIAL WOULD
COME IN AND HE WOULD FINISH. AT ONE POINT IT TOOK TWO YEARS
OF JUST SITTING THERE BEFORE HE
RESTARTED BECAUSE HE HAD NO
MATERIALS. JUST WAITING. ANTHONY: IT T
