Spain weather warning: Widespread snow to hit Spain THIS WEEK in freak storms – shock maps – News 2

 Spain’s mountain ranges will be the worst hit with snow to fall this evening and more of the white stiff set to hit the northern peninsula from Monday, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) said Ahmet predicts intense rains and showers in the Cantabrian area, strong winds on the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, and maritime storm on the coasts of Galicia and Cantabria Snow and the persistent rainfall will make for icy conditions, Spanish forecasters have warned  According to the meteorological service, there will be “a significant rise in the level” of snow from Friday onwards  Rubén del Campo, spokesman for Aemet, explains on the YouTube channel of the State Meteorological Agency that “this intense episode will take over the next few days from north to south, which guarantees the arrival of cold air to our country in all layers of the stratosphere ” Up to 20cm of snow has already fallen through the peninsula and the western Mediterranean region  Aemet stressed this Sunday “a worsening of the general situation” is expected, with violent winds set to dominate tourist hot-spot the Canary Islands  With mountainous regions of Spain already seeing an intense increase of snow, some skiers have uploaded images onto social media  Amazing images show a blanket of snow with the clouds closing in around the mountains, while others show nothing but white as clouds block our the sun in chilling pictures  In another, a dog is pictured in a park in the region with a nearby table and bench covered in at least three inches of thick snow  Spain is not the only nation facing snow.  The Met Office has warned that Britain will be battered by snow as an Arctic freeze swoops in  The UK is bracing for bone-chilling temperatures to sweep across the country as Arctic winds grip Britain threatening to bring snowfall as a low-pressure system moves in  According to the latest weather charts, the near-zero temperatures will grip the northern half of the UK over the weekend  One chart shows stronger winds move in on Saturday afternoon, while another by WxCharts shows freezing cold minimum temperatures across Britain   Alternative charts by NETWEATHER also shows the increased risk of snowfall pick up on Saturday and Sunday  The weather graphs appears to show the northwest of England, north of England and parts of Scotland all more likely to see some snow hit over the weekend  While Wales, West Midlands and even the south-west of England should be prepared for snow showers Saturday night into Sunday morning  BBC Weather has warned of snow over the weekend as a low-pressure system clashes with bitterly-cold air in the coming days  The forecast reads: “A low-pressure system is then expected to cross the UK from northwest to southeast on Saturday and into Sunday  “As the warm front moves in over the colder air Saturday morning, there is the potential for some early morning snow in the hills of Northwest Britain, before any snow turns back to rain by midday  “A wet and cool weekend in store, but with overnight lows milder than those expected Friday night ” BBC Weather also tweeted a graphic of bone-chilling northern cold air continuing to grip the country throughout the rest of the week Trending  They tweeted: “The rest of the week will be cold and largely unsettled due to a strong jet stream just to the south of the UK, leaving us in a chilly air mass and a chance of some snow on high ground ” Meanwhile, weather warnings are in place in the east of England as heavy rain barrels towards the country, threatening to bring “disruption from flooding”  Additional reporting by Maria Ortega.
