(JEREMY) WE HAD STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS YESTERDAY. THERE WERE AT LEAST 2 TORNADOES IN THE REGION. THERE WAS AN EF-0 IN THE HICKORY AREA. THERE WAS ALSO AN EF-1 TORNADO IN IRVINGTON ON THE NORTHERN NECK. THERE WERE ALSO REPORTS OF OTHER WIND DAMAGE IN THE AREA. MOSTLY FROM STRAIGHT LINED WINDS. THE STORMS ARE GONE TODAY, BUT THE WIND MAY STILL BE A PROBLEM. HIGH PRESSURE IS BUILDING INTO THE REGION AS THE STRONG AREA OF LOW PRESSURE SITS OVER THE NORTHEASTERN U.S. THE EFFECT WILL BE STRONG WESTERLY WINDS TODAY. THEY WILL GUST UP TO 35MPH, AND COULD GUST EVEN HIGHER IN SOME PLACES. THIS WILL LEAD TO SOME MINOR TIDAL FLOODING ON THE (SOUND-SIDE) OF THE OUTER BANKS. WINDS WILL STAY UP THROUGH MOST OF THE DAY, BUT THERE WILL NOT BE ANY STORMS. IT’S NOT TOO BAD OUT RIGHT NOW. THERE IS A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS. IT IS PRETTY WINDY THOUGH. WINDS ARE GUSTING TO 30MPH AND A LITTLE HIGHER. WE WILL BE DRY, BUT A BIG UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL BE SITTING OVER US. SO THERE IS A WEAK CHANCE FOR A FEW SPRINKLES IN THE LATE AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. FUTURE TRAK HAS ONLY AN INCREASE IN CLOUDS TODAY. IT HAS CLEARING FOR TONIGHT AND LOTS OF SUNSHINE FOR TOMORROW. FOR THE REST OF TODAY: SUN/CLOUD MIX. WINDY!. A STRAY SPRINKLE LATE. HIGHS WILL BE NEAR 60. WINDS WEST 15-15MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35MPH. TONIGHT: CLEARING SKIES. LOWS WILL BE IN THE UPPER 30S. WINDS NW 10-15MPH WITH GUSTS TO 25MPH. PATCHY FROST IS POSSIBLE INLAND. MAINLY AWAY FROM THE WATER. SATURDAY WE’LL SEE LOTS OF SUNSHINE AND LESS WIND. IT WILL BE COLD IN THE MORNING, BUT HIGHS WILL RISE TO NEAR 60 IN THE AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL BE OUT OF THE WEST AT 10-15MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. WE’LL BE DRY FOR THE WEEKEND. TEMPS WILL BE MILD ON SUNDAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RISE TO THE UPPER 60S. WE’LL HAVE SOME NICE/QUIET WEATHER FOR ALL OF NEXT WEEK. HIGH TEMPS WILL BE IN THE 60S AND 70S. THERE MAY BE A FEW SHOWERS LATER IN THE WEEK, BUT JUST FOR ONE DAY. POLLEN IS UP FOR TODAY. IT WILL BE MODERATE TOMORROW. WE’LL HAVE MORE ON THE FORECAST ON WAVY NEWS 10 AT 4PM WITH METEOROLOGIST DON SLATER.
